Does my policy cover Pre-existing Conditions?
Like with other pet insurance companies, pre-existing conditions are not covered.
What is a pre-existing condition?
A pre-existing condition includes any condition for which a Vet provided medical advice, your pet received treatment for, or displayed signs or symptoms of prior to the policy effective date or during any waiting period.
How do you determine a pre-existing condition?
During the initial vet records assessment and any claim processing the 18 months preceding the policy effective date are looked at and any conditions that were present during that period will be excluded. Conditions that are Present during the policy waiting periods are also deemed to be pre-existing conditions.
*Please note, the following Conditions are deemed Pre-Existing Conditions if they are Present at any time preceding the Policy Effective Date or the expiration of any Waiting Period:
- Chronic Conditions.
- Bilateral Conditions, if your pet had at any time any pre-existing conditions consistent with that same bilateral condition on either side of the body.
- Intervertebral disc Conditions, if your pet had at any time any pre-existing conditions involving the intervertebral discs (due to either degeneration or trauma).
Are there any pre-existing conditions that exclude my pet from being covered?
If your pet has been diagnosed, treated, or displayed signs/symptoms of the below pre-existing illnesses, they will not be eligible for an Illness & Injury policy.
- Canine: Addison’s Disease, Cushing’s Disease, Diabetes and/or Cancer.
- Feline: Diabetes, Feline Leukemia Virus (FELV), Feline Immunodeficiency (FIV), and/or Cancer.
