What Types of Pets Do You Cover?
We cover dogs and cats within a specific age range, so your pet can start benefiting from coverage as soon as they reach a safe, healthy age. Eligibility is also based on breed, health, pre-existing conditions, local veterinary costs, and our underwriting guidelines.
Do You Cover Exotic Pets?
No — the pet insurance benefit doesn't cover horses, birds, reptiles, or other exotic pets. We're currently focused on providing coverage for dogs and cats of any breed, subject to our eligibility requirements.
Age Requirements
A common reason for disqualification is our age requirements for new enrollment:
- Minimum age: 6 or 7 weeks old, depending on your coverage provider — see your policy for your specific requirement
- Maximum age: 7 years for dogs, 9 years for cats
If your pet is outside these age ranges, or has certain pre-existing conditions, they may not qualify for coverage at this time.
Not Eligible for Insurance Today?
Even if insurance isn't an option right now, you can still apply for the Nibbles Mastercard® to earn 3x rewards on pet purchases. We're working hard to grow our coverage and hope to welcome your pet soon.
It's a Mastercard® and can be used anywhere Mastercard is accepted. If your veterinarian's point-of-sale system uses the standard vet merchant code (0742), your purchase still qualifies for 3x reward points — even if it isn't for a dog or cat. You'll earn 1x points on all other purchases.
